Living in New York City for 20 years, I found it was much easier to fix things in our apartments myself instead of waiting for a super to do it. And I was always finding ways to upgrade my living spaces -which I didn't own and couldn't permanently change - which meant thinking creatively about how to make removeable changes and how to use small spaces to the fullest.

 

Since finally purchasing my own home in New Jersey eight years ago, I have been honing my skills in carpentry, painting, tiling (including for shower and bath) as well as doing all the repairs and upgrades that come with homeownership.

So, yes, I can put together an IKEA shelving unit. Yes, I can repair a broken tile or repair a hole in your drywall (and repaint it if you want!)
